How Zipcar works
Join online. Once you’re a member you’ll have access to book Roundtrip journeys, take Flex one-way trips as well as use our vans. Just download the app, reserve and drive.

Apply online with a picture of your driving licence at the ready. As soon as you’re approved you’re good to go.
Drive a Roundtrip
Hire by the hour or day, perfect for weekends away and trips around town. Unlock with the app or your Zipcard. Need a one-way trip? Try Zipcar Flex.
Return
When you’re done, return your Roundtrip vehicle to the same dedicated bay you got it from. Pop the keys in the glovebox and lock via the app.

Our one-way service. Reserve your nearest car in the app (we’ll hold it for 15 minutes), drive, then drop it in our Zipzone.

Leave Flex cars in our Zipzone across London – there’s 13 boroughs to choose from. Pop the keys in the glovebox and lock via the app.
How do I join Zipcar?
Just apply online. Make sure you have a picture of your driving licence ready, and we’ll check you’re you. Approval can take as little 2 hours or sometimes up to 2 days if we need more information from you. Once you get your approval email, you’re good to go.

How much does Zipcar cost?
You've got a choice of 3 membership plans: Basic has no monthly cost, Smart is £6 /month and Plus is £15 /month. On any plan you can book a Flex by the minute, or a Roundtrip by the hour or the day and pay for what you use. Price it out.

What types of cars can I drive?
We’ve a range of makes and models for you to choose from so you can pick a car that suits your needs (or just your mood). We have everything from Flex’s electric vehicles to Volkswagen Golfs, Polos and vans - and even unbranded luxury vehicles.
Is fuel included?
It sure is. Just use the fuel card on the side of the dashboard when you need to fill up. Every car should have at least ¼ tank to start with (please bring yours back that way, too.) Our e-Golfs are charged overnight by our team, so they’re good to go whenever you are.
How many miles are included?
60 miles each day – no matter where you drive. Extra miles cost from £0.25 per mile. Learn more. We also cover your Congestion Charge, and all our vehicles are ULEZ compliant – so everything’s taken care of.
How does Zipcar insurance work?
All Zipcar members in good standing have third party auto liability. Members are responsible for a £750 damage fee (£1,000 for higher risk members) per incident, which can be reduced or eliminated with an optional damage fee waiver. Learn more.
